SAMANTHA MATHIS

For SAMANTHA MATHIS, 1994 was a big year. She starred as the grown-up Amy in the film "Little Women" with Susan Sarandon and Winona Ryder, recently completed filming "How to Make an American Quilt," opposite Winona Ryder, and starred in the romantic comedy "Jack and Sara," opposite Richard E. Grant, which is scheduled for release this summer.

Mathis' film credits also include "This is My Life," "Pump Up the Volume," "The Thing Called Love" and "Super Mario Bros."

Born in New York, Mathis moved to Los Angeles with her mother, actress Bibi Besch, when she was six. She began her professional acting career at 16, and went on to co-star in the NBC series "Aaron's Way" and in ABC's "Knightwatch." She also appeared with Faye Dunaway in the TNT movie "Cold Sassy Tree."

Other television work includes Peter Horton's "Extreme Close-up," a made-for-television movie on NBC, and two movies of the week for CBS; "83 Hours 'Til Dawn," with Peter Strauss and Robert Urich, and "To My Daughter," opposite Rue McClanahan for NBC.

In theater, Mathis starred in the production of "Fortin Bras" at the Signature Theater in New York.
